The University of British Columbia's Malcolm Knapp Research Forest also has an extensive network of hiking/walking trails through this pristine, forested environment. Grant Narrows Regional Park, Kanaka Creek Regional Park, and the vast array of dyke trails throughout Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows also provide excellent hiking, walking, and wildlife viewing opportunities. And don't forget about the "Ridge Meadows" section of the Trans Canada Trail, a 21.5 km portion of this famous national trail that meanders through both communities. Walking/cycling/hiking is a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors and leave the hustle and bustle of city life behind.
